Some of the earliest inhabitants
stake their claim to the history books,
lending their Scottish heritage to landmark
locations; New Beith was named after the
Scottish town of Beith and the hometown
of Celia after she married wealthy land
owner Richard Tyson Wilson. Teviot Downs
itself is named after the near by Teviot
Brook which in turn was named for the historic
Teviot River which joins the Tweed River
at Kelso in South East Scotland. Pub Lane
derived its name from Isaac Nashs
Teviot Junction Hotel built in 1880, a watering
hole steeped in tradition.
The interstate railway was
constructed n 1927 and pockets of pine plantation
were established during the 1960s
when the land was acquired by Associated
Forest Holdings.
Of recent times the popularity of the area,
particularly with families, saw the developer
identify a niche market opportunity to deliver
premium acreage product at an affordable
price.
Welcome to Teviot Downs, a place where youll
have the freedom to live and room to grow.
Now thats something you can play with.
